Una Nuova Opportunità – Book Cover

The project

While still at university, I had the opportunity to illustrate the cover of "Una nuova opportunità" (A New Opportunity), a children's book written by Ilaria Agostini and published by Giovanelli Edizioni. The book tells the story of Susy, a cat abandoned by her family who finds shelter in a bush — and then finds a new home full of love. A gentle tale about second chances and respect for animals, aimed at readers aged 6 and up.

The style

Inspiration

• The cover art is inspired by the Funko Pop style: stylized figures with big heads and expressive eyes, loved by children and adults alike. I wanted the protagonist — the little black kitten — to immediately convey tenderness and curiosity, inviting young readers to discover its story.

Palette and setting

• Bright, soft colors — the green of the grass, the blue of the sky, white clouds — to create a serene and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the book's positive message.

Tools used

• Adobe Illustrator

  The entire illustration was created digitally in Illustrator, using clean lines and soft geometric shapes to achieve a modern look suited for children's publishing.

A special memory

This was one of my first commissioned works, and seeing it displayed in a bookstore with my illustration on the cover was an incredible feeling. An experience that confirmed how much I love bringing stories to life through design.
